I admire the variety of styles and directions of digital graphic. There are a lot of artists and illustrators in the world working in each of these styles, among them there are also such who choose a certain direction, develop it and make it delightful. Dan Wheaton is one of such artists.

Not so long ago i have heard that one famous illustrator asks if someone know how they draw these pictures, which looks like screenshots of illustrations in .gif format, but use only a few colors and looks perfect and very accurate. I was shocked. How could it be that there are still people in internet, which doesn’t heard about “pixel art” ? So before we start talking on this topic, i want to write an opening clause to answer question – what is pixel art ?
I want to start my illustrations review from the works of the best american pin-up illustrator Gil Elvgren. I choose him not only because pin-up is actual today, but also he is one of my favorites illustrators. Elvgren is fairly considered to be the best pin-up illustrator whom the world ever knew. He painted more than 500 canvases and each can be called a masterpiece. The basic technique he used was oilo on canvas. Here you can find several works of him which I consider to be his best pictures.
